What is volume weight?

Each carrier sets the shipping weight as the higher of the actual weight and the volume weight.  Volume weights are not shown on shipping receipts, so please contact your local carrier's office for more accurate information. The volume weight is calculated as follows. Length(cm)*width(cm)*Height(cm)/5000 = volume weight.
